According to dictionary.com, insomnia means "inability to obtain sufficient sleep, esp. when chronic; difficulty in falling or staying asleep; sleeplessness"
And that is what I suffered from last night.
For no particular reason, I just wasn't able to sleep last night. At 12 am, I went to bed. I turned from side to side on my bed until 1am, not being able to go to sleep. Woke up, surfed some net, and then TRIED to go back to sleep at 1.30am. Failed. By the time my uncle came home and came into my room, it was 3am and I was still wide awake, though I was lying on my bed. Talked to my uncle on how to turn on the demister for the car, before TRYING to go back to sleep again.
Again, failed.
Went to get some biscuits and water. Try again. Fail.
Dulan.
Decided not to sleep. Surfed youtube and tried to do some coursework after that, and by the time I started to feel drowsy, my alarm rang. It was 6.30am, and time to get ready for work.
Interestingly though, I'm not tired at all. In fact, I've got to go to school now to get ready for my CIS 222 workshop from 7pm to 10pm. Feeling really energised though. Must be the can of Pokka Coffee that I bought at the Shell station this morning. Woohoo!
P.S. This week is quite a slack week for me to teach, as the sec Ones and Twos are away for OBS camp I think. Sec Ones will be back on Wednesday and Sec Twos are back on Thursday. So that means 3 hours out of 10 for this week gone. But that means SGD60 gone :(

Am I In The Wrong?
Been having some issues with the agent company that I'm part-timing for.
Here's what happened:
Past few days, I've been having 2 ulcers, 1 on my tongue and the other under my tongue. It hurts like crap, and it's been giving me hell lots of problem when I eat or when I talk.
And thus I told my agent that there is a problem with me teaching because I can't talk properly at all. And since we have to give a good impression to the school, can they find a replacement for me?
Sadly, the agent told me that there is no replacement for me, because they've been unable to find one who can teach Microsoft Access as well as I can.
And now, the company's been questioning me, asking me why do I give them last minute situations, the last time being that I had a sore eye when I woke up.
But as a human, can you ever predict when are you going to fall ill? The reason why I am last minute is because it bloody happened over a couple of hours! Like my sore eye, I didn't have it the night before, but it appeared when I woke up in the morning! Luckily, it went off after I put some eye mo on. And then this time round, the ulcer was still bearable, but it just became really unbearable on saturday and sunday. The lessons are on monday, and when I told them on sunday, they say that I am very last minute again.
I understand that last minute situations are never good. I know that. But honestly, if I have a replacement with me, wouldn't that save alot of trouble, in the case where I'm ill and he/she can then take over me instead? For over a month, the company hasn't been able to find a replacement, but when this ulcer issue came up, they were able to find a replacement for me within 2 hours! Weird isn't it? It's either the company's not serious in finding, or that they've been trying to save money and hire just one trainer instead.
And then another issue now is that the company has completely lost faith in my commitment to the project. They then offered me 2 choices.
1) Carry on with the project, but they will keep SGD200 of my pay with them, and only pay me back at the end of the project.
2) Quit. Pay SGD200 as compensation, and then they will consult a lawyer as to whether they can keep my pay, which is SGD440.
Apparently, I'm the highest paid trainer in the company right now, with SGD20/hr. The rest are paid either SGD15/hr or SGD16/hr. And then today, after one month of teaching, the agent told me that preparing materials for the class is part of the job scope of the lead trainer of the project, which is me. Apparently, all other trainers who get paid SGD15 or SGD16 an hour prepare their own teaching materials too. This, after my agent told me before I signed the contract, that they will provide me with ALL the materials needed for me to teach the class throughout the entire project.
So, any lawyers out there who can advice me? Whether am I in the wrong, and whether do I have any chances of winning back my SGD440 if I chose the 2nd option? Do they have the right to keep part of my pay? The contract says this:
"The Trainer must abide by the timing and the work schedule given by the Company. The Company has the right to withhold payment for the assignment if it has been incomplete or done badly."
But up till last thursday, which is the day I submitted my claim form, I have never once did my job badly, or done it incompletely. In fact, I think that I've been a good trainer. I missed only 3 lessons, and that is because I have my mock exams, and the agent has already given me the permission to go for the exams. So why do they have the right to keep SGD200 out of my SGD440?

Past Few Days...
Friday:
Was driving around Singapore the entire day. Went to CPF board at Jurong East, and they made my auntie so pissed. Over the phone, the girl told my auntie that she only needs to bring her IC and some relevant documents and she will be able to settle my grandmother's Medisave Account, which still has some money in it. But when my auntie went down, it was totally different. They said that they will have to investigate whether is my auntie really the daughter of my grandmother, and whether does my grandmother have any other nominees for the money, even though my auntie stated that she is the sole nominee.
Jurong East POSB has a coin deposit machine! First time I've seen one! Ended up going all the way home to take all my coins, and then going back there to deposit them, and at the same time change the trust account that I have to become a joint account with my auntie, just in case "anything happens to her suddenly". Choy.
Went to Kallang Bahru to buy praying things for my grandmother. There were so many choices at that shop! My auntie was so surprised to see that there are so many different choices that she didn't know what to buy, and she didn't know when to stop buying! She just basically took whatever she saw! We normally go to a shop at Chinatown, and today, for the same amount of money, we were able to buy 2 times the quantity!
The only bad thing that happened today was my bloody nose. It was running the entire day. Bad bad bad.
Saturday:
张信哲 concert was just fantastic. His quality of singing live is no doubt one of the best. The only glitch was the first 2 songs, where he still wasn't warmed up yet. He sang 宽容 for the first song, and he wasn't able to reach the high notes. But once he got his voice warmed up, boy was he good! All the classic songs like 宽容,不要对他说,爱如潮水,信仰, 做你的男人,直觉,别怕我伤心 我是真的爱你, 从开始到现在 etc. He even sang 2 new songs from his upcoming album that will be released in April, and they are nice too! I actually have a list of the songs that he sang, but the other half is with Dear.
It was damn surprising when he came out for the first song. His hair was terrible! It was curly! Like Macdonalds curly fries! And after the 5th segment, his hair become straight! It looked exactly like the hair Jacky Cheung had for one of his concerts. The one where its straight and lopsided to one side. It's exactly the same! But no matter what he looks like, we were all there to listen to his voice. He's the true 情歌王子.
Monday:
Fuck that bloody bitch who was horning in the carpark constantly.
Imagine this scenario. I was waiting to turn left to go up a slope to get to the exit of the carpark, but there were just too many cars, and there were cars on the opposite side waiting, and also from my right side who were going straight. We were all stuck, and we could not move. There was this girl who was coming out of a lot, and she was just one lot away from the exit, and thus she could not turn fully to get out. Thus, I gave her some space so that she could turn out, reverse, and do a 3 point turn.
That bitch horned me for giving her some space.
And after that girl managed to turn and move out after some guy gave way to him, it was my turn to move to wait to turn left.
That bitch horned CONSTANTLY.
She's an idiot or what? Does she think that by horning, I'd be able to move? Does she think that by horning, she'll be able to get home earlier? You're just a fucking stupid bitch. So what you drive a big car? I had to give that girl some space to turn out, otherwise she'll end up banging into me. And I had to queue up to wait to turn left, because no one was giving way to me.
We then had an evil thought of queuing and blocking her all the way until the other 2 directions were clear. But then again, there were other cars behind her that were innocent. So I decided to inch forward. End up? When we went up the slope, we had to turn right to get to the exit. At the slope, there were road marshals, and this road marshal allowed my side to move, and the bitch's car was made to wait! Again!
Stupid bitch! Horn lah! KNNBCCB.
Got highest for java mock. But no one studied. So who cares? Haha.

Joke
This was the conversation between me and Hwee Min, one of my classmates, today in school.
HM: 你哪里买的? (指我的饭盒) 学校啊?
Me: 嗯。
HM: 是斋的吗?
Me: 不是。是从菜饭那摊买的。
HM: 哦。那为什么你用筷子?
Me: 因为我吃米粉面啊!
Miss Hwee Min, 菜饭摊 doesn't mean selling ONLY 饭. It has 米粉,面 and 粿条 too!
Of course I'm using chopsticks!
In case you guys don't know, that is Miss Hwee Min for you. Forever blur :)

Reaction
Surveys have shown that 64% of the undergrads in NUS have sex at least once a week, and hostels and toilets are the preferred places for this.
So what?
I'm not surprised that it's higher. Either that, or most of the 36% is lying.
But seriously, at the age of like 19-23, hormones are raging. You can't possibly think that a group of guys and girls who stay in the hostels, with hormones raging, study together every single day? Of course there's other things happening, like sex.
I think there are rules that the door must be open when a guy and a girl are in the same room, but the rules didn't say that they cannot have sex.
So what should we do? Should the school add the rule, stating that there should be no sex in the hostels and toilets? Add CCTVs in every room and every toilet? If this happens, I bet no one will want to stay in the hostels anymore. Either that, or they'll choose to have sex in more exotic places like the classrooms, the halls or even carparks.
But really, just leave them alone. What's wrong with this? The school can't do anything to stop it, and they shouldn't do anything to stop it either. None of them are underaged, so it ain't against the law. But if you think that it's against the ethics, then I fully agree. SO, the moral of the story, stay out of the hostels if you feel that it is morally wrong. But if you feel like joining them, then go ahead.
I'm just glad that SIM does not have hostels. Even if they do, they'll probably be taken up by all the foreign students. All those rich Indonesians especially. I wonder if the numbers will be higher when hostels are built for SIM and surveys such as this one are done.
Let's wait and see.

IT Show, KTV and Dinner
Went to the IT Show on Friday, and managed to buy a 4GB thumbdrive for myself @ $28. Quite a bargain I should say. Dear bought the same one too, and she got a DVD rom for her mom, while Esther bought $60+ worth of printer ink. She has the same printer as me!
Went to Silas's booth, and sat down to listen to what they had to say because Silas said "it will take only 5 minutes". But it lasted for about 20 minutes! Haha.
KTV at night was fantastic. Been such a long time since I last went for KTV with the gang le. But sadly my voice wasn't in good condition. Maybe it's been too long since I last sang. Jessie's 牵手 made the entire room damn high! Hope we can have another KTV session really soon yah?
Dinner last night was at Long Beach @ IMM. Damn shiok! Too bad I didn't take photos of the chilli crab! The crab was damn good, together with the Live Prawns Hor Fun, and the Pork Ribs. To end, we had coconut ice cream, durian pudding and mango pudding for desserts. It came on a bowl filled with dried ice in a green coloured water, and we could see that it was bubbling! Very nice. If I were to go the next time round, I'll take pictures of it. Together with pictures of me eating it!!!!
But the interesting things happened before the dinner. First there was line dancing just outside the restaurant. It was nice as this was the first time I've seen line dancing live. There's this uncle wearing a shirt, who somehow knows every dance, but his expression says "Wah lau, damn sian. No kick". I didn't dare to go near him and take a close up shot of him, else you'll laugh when you see his expression too.
And then we reached the restaurant at 7.20pm. The lady at the counter told me that the restaurant was full and that I had to wait until 8pm. After leaving my number and name, I then went to watch the line dancing. After 10 minutes, Dear and I couldn't find my auntie, and suddenly she called. "Eh, come in leh!"
We turned around, and there she was, sitting in the restaurant with a table! How did she do that? Apparently, she went to show off her "auntie" power by complaining that there are so many tables in the restaurant that are reserved for people who are already late for about 30 to 45 minutes, so why wait for them and why not release it to people who are already here waiting? The lady at the counter gave up and immediately gave her the table. Hahahahah. Auntie Power!
Car coming in 2 weeks time!!!!

Itinerary For Tomorrow
Here's the itinerary for tomorrow:
1030hrs: Reveille
1145hrs: Meet Esther and Dear to visit the IT Fair at Suntec
1500hrs: Buffet Lunch at Sakae Sushi @ Marina
1800hrs: Hang around town
2000hrs: Meet Sheen for dinner
2200hrs: KTV at Cuppage Partyworld with Kev, Jess, Luke, Sheen, Dear and I
0300hrs: Bedtime
Exciting day ahead!!!
Gonna check out some of the thumbdrives and 2GB laptop ram available at the IT Fair. Will need a 2GB thumbdrive, which I think is more than sufficient. Checked out the price list together with HP, and found that it's about $15 for 1GB thumbdrive, and $22 for a 2GB thumbdrive, so why not get 1 2GB?

Weird Guy
Was waiting for the bus today at the Clementi bus stop to go to school, when some man approached me.
He claimed that he just came out of jail, and asked me if I could sponsor him $2 to take bus home, as he stays in Bukit Merah. He also claimed that it's impossible for him to walk back home, as the guards in the jail tortured him to the extent of him not being able to see clearly. He kept pestering me for $2, and say that it's not like he's asking for $20. He then asked me if I had other buddies who I know that can lend him money, and that he was too paiseh to ask other people in the bus stop but me.
Why me? Do I look like I went to jail before just like you? Do I look like I'll get taunted by you and end up giving you $10 when you only ask for $2? Screw you.
AND he stink like hell. He probably didn't bathe for 2 weeks at least.
Then I went to school and suddenly thought of this...
Is there a jail at Clementi? How did he end up there in the first place?
I'm so going to watch this movie.
Check out the moves man!

Joke Of The Day + Chloe Cho + Car
Yesterday was working at Suntec for a Channel NewsAsia seminar, and I actually have a reserved seat to sit beside Chloe Cho (a CNA news presenter cum producer) when I'm just a packer cum usherer cum stage manager (according to my in-charge of the day, Gillian).
Big shot sia!
The last time I worked with a CNA presenter is Suzanne Jung, and I must say that Chloe is much more outgoing and chatty as compared to Suzanne. Maybe another reason is that I had to convey many messages to Chloe, while I didn't get the chance to do so with Suzanne.
BUT. Suzanne's still prettier.
This crappy guy from Great Eastern when loading up the slides, whispered to me saying that all these presenters look damn hot in real life, but not that hot on TV. He even asked me which CNA presenter I liked, and he said his favourite is Chloe, the one right in front of him. Hahaha.
Black Toyota Vios 1.5L G.
SGD56,500.
Coming in mid march.
Woohoo!
Joke Of The Day, 020308:
Was at Lot One in the evening buying dog biscuits and paper for my assignment. After that, I went to the interchange to wait for a bus to go home.
Everything seems fine right?
Until I took my wallet out and saw something...
A CAR KEY! I FORGOT THAT I DROVE!
And then I had to walk all the way back to the Lot One carpark.
Stupid me.
P.S. Congratulations to the BMW who was in front of me on the road, with the car plate number 3214. In case you don't know, your car plate number opened as the top prize in today's 4D. If you didn't buy, then too bad :)
Back to assignments ~~~

Death Note Spin Off - L Change The World
Rating: 9/10
Why not 10/10? Because L still has to die!
I shall not say too much about the movie, but if you guys are looking for a movie as intellectually challenging as the previous edition of Death Note, then don't watch this show. This show has nothing to do with the Death Note at all. It is all about L.
